Purple Hats for the BC Children's Hospital

Fancy some quick-to-knit summer knitting? The BC Children's Hospital is collecting purple hats for their Purple Hat campaign.

There are lots of great patterns available online and in your local knitting stores.

There are a few things to remember:

• Please don't use anything that dangles or pompoms
• At least 50% of the hat needs to be purple - stripes are nice too!
• Use something soft as these hats are for new babies
• The size needs to fit a 6-12 month old baby

 

***Hats need to be mailed no later than Monday, September 15th, 2014. ***

Baby Hats for World Vision

We are still gathering baby hats for World Vision Knit for Kids and will be mailing out a package in early September.

If you would like more information about the Knit for Kids charity, here is the link for the World Vision Knit for Kids website.

They are looking for unisex sweaters, caps and baby blankets.

They are asking the knitters to use the patterns found on the website so that all the recipients receive something alike. There are a few different patterns that you can download here.

Upcoming Get Togethers - Summer 2014

Here is the tentative schedule for our up coming get-togethers. This schedule will go until fall. Hopefully you can come!

We will meet in the Fireside Room at the Balfour Covenant Church from 9:00 - 12:00 Noon.

Don't you think it would be fun to knit/crochet outside at someone's house?  If anyone is interested in holding it at their place - please let me know as well as what date of course. 

We will start meeting every second Thursday again in the fall season so we can get more stuff done as delivery times approach. See you soon :)

Baby Blanket Delivery

Today Margaret went out and delivered quite a few beautiful baby blankets that were donated by the ladies of Giving Hands to the Nelson Community Health Nurses. These blankets are very much appreciated by the ladies and were ooh'd and awed over. Big THANKS to all the ladies that donated :) Our next step is to deliver baby hats for all the new babies being born.

Christmas giving is upon us!

Morning everyone. What do you think of our new look? Thanks to Sarah for doing that.

Today, I will be busy knitting washclothes for the Samaratian's Purse Shoe Boxes that are sent out each year. Anyone interested in helping us please send me a personal e-mail at :

I recently sent a large box full of items to a cancer lodge in Kelowna. Shawls, chemo hats, slippers,etc. Also, a number of purple baby hats were mailed to the BC Children's Hospital to help out with their PURPLE BABY SYNDROME campaign that takes place in November.

Well, have a great day. I have a lot to do but just want to sit in my nice comfortable chair with a cup o' of tea and knit ALL DAY. Time will tell which wins out in the end.
